More About Allison Clark

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor with almost five years of experience working with teens and adults. It is my honor to work alongside all kinds of people on their healing journeys. My goal is to make sure you can show up as your authentic self and feel truly seen!

As a queer, health-at-every-size (HAES), sex-positive counselor, I believe my work must go hand in hand with community engagement and use a social justice lens. I’m passionate about helping clients challenge heteronormativity, purity
culture, and the capitalist productivity mindset. I provide a collaborative, person-centered therapeutic approach to help clients achieve their goals.

I recognize that our lives are shaped by our identities, values, and how we are seen by others. I use several modalities of therapy, including ACT to stay in the present moment and explore personal values; DBT to learn specific skills that can help you regulate emotions, manage stress, and improve relationships; and CBT to target unhelpful thinking patterns. I’m also trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, the gold standard for treating OCD and anxiety disorders.

I love working with clients to build confidence, face their fears, navigate life transitions, and learn resiliency after trauma. As a queer person raised in a Southern evangelical Christian community, I have a special interest in helping others recover from purity / shame culture. My other professional interests include OCD and anxiety, exploring sexual and/or gender identity, grief, relationship issues, and managing professional burnout.

Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors with my three-year-old pittie mix, baking new recipes with my girlfriend, dabbling in painting, playing my guitar, and reading as many literary fiction books as I can get my hands on!
