Dominique Grimes-Medlin (he/him), fondly known as Dom, is a seasoned HR/DEIB consultant and advocate with over a decade of experience driving organizational success through inclusive people strategies. As a multi-racial, LGBTQIA+ professional, Dom uses his voice, knowledge, and lived experience to uplift marginalized groups and address DEIB issues head-on. Dom is currently supporting our work by leveraging his expertise in HR operations, provide strategic planning, cultivate diverse and equitable workplaces, and implement sustainable DEIB practices.

Dom’s extensive cross-industry experience, spanning manufacturing, healthcare, IT, food and beverage, janitorial, and non-profits, allows him to offer comprehensive, tailored solutions. He specializes in examining policies and procedures through a DEIB lens and ensuring hiring practices are diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A steadfast advocate for second chances, Dom launched a statewide initiative creating a directory of justice-involved friendly employers in North Carolina.

Beyond consulting, Dom serves on several non-profit boards, including Workforce Readiness Chair for TSHRM, Workforce Readiness Director for NCSCHRM, Communications Chair for Board of Trustees at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, advisor to the board for Triangle Gay Men’s Chorus, and as Vice-Chair for StepUp Durham, where he has planned their annual Impact event for two consecutive years, raising over $131,000 in 2023 and over $140,000 in 2024. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management with an HR concentration from the University of Phoenix and a Master’s from Western Carolina University and is a SHRM Certified Professional with DEI certifications.With an empathetic approach, Dom champions employee needs and fosters truly inclusive environments. Originally from Indianapolis, this fashionable city boy is known for his 90 hats and love of red wine. When not uplifting organizations and individuals, Dom hosts DEI events, indulges his clean-fanatic tendencies, and enjoys time with his friends, husband, John, and two dogs, Benji & Phoenix.
