More About Jenny Rieke Gil

Hello all, my name is Jennifer Gil, I am comfortable with any and all pronouns. My theoretical orientation emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I use an Intergrative approach where I draw from modalities such as CBT, IFS, Psychodynamic, and Existential therapy.

At the core of my conceptualization and practice are the principles of Liberation Psychology. I feel deeply connected to the principle of “tu eres mi otro yo” or “you are my other me”, allowing the self (you) to be reflected in (me) and vice versa. Together we become active participants in the process of experimenting with more helpful patterns of thoughts and behaviors. Though the therapeutic relationship emphasizes the client, I believe in an interconnectedness, in creating a space where we mutually heal each other. Where we accompany each other through our life journeys, showing up as authentically human as we can. I believe that trust is earned and our therapeutic relationship will be no exception. Through respect, empathy, compassion, radical humility and humor I hope to achieve this with you.

Some of my clinical interest and specialties include, life transitions, grief, trauma, substance use, chronic pain, relational difficulties, identity exploration, depression, anxiety and PTSD. I am interested in working with individuals accross the lifespan from teens to older adults, as well as those with multiple intersecting identities and Spanish speaking individuals. Throughout various employment opportunities and my educational journey I have had the honor of working with underserved and marganilized populations. Through these experiences I have been carefully gifted with knowledge, ancestral wisdom and liberating values that I apply in my clinical practice. I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Idaho with a minor in Spanish and a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion. I provisionally licensed to practice in Arizona and pursuing licensure in NC.

In my free time I loveeeee to nap and rest. I love to spend time with family and friends sharing stories and using humor. I also enjoy engaging in art, (drawing or carving for lino prints). I enjoy long boarding and snowboarding. I have a special interest in photography and have been honing my skills over the last few years.
