Dr. Karena Butler (she/her) is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner originally from Garland, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice and PMHNP certification at Rush University in Chicago.
Her approach to care is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect. She believes that caring is truly an art, and her goal is for every client to feel valued, heard, and understood. She believes that each clients’ life experiences matter, and she strives to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where clients can openly share their concerns. She strongly believes in working together as a team and will never make treatment decisions without understanding the client’s goals, preferences, and what options the client feels comfortable exploring.
Karena has experience treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD, and works with children, adolescents, and adults. She is passionate about supporting individuals and families through all stages of life and helping them move toward improved mental wellness.
Outside of work, she is married and a proud parent of two children. She enjoys traveling, trying new foods, staying active, spending time with friends and extended family, and exploring new experiences. These interests help her stay grounded and bring balance to both her personal life and the care she provides.
