I am a second-year MSW student at NC State. My undergraduate degree from UW-Milwaukee is in Psychology and Biology, with a strong focus on neuropsychology, specifically how childhood trauma has lasting impacts on how we develop, process, and perceive the world to which we belong. My approach to trauma work is informed by my experience as a Queer kid in rural Wisconsin with many adversities to navigate. In practice, I enjoy using theories rooted in social justice, such as Black feminism and conflict theory, to expand our ideals of what is possible for ourselves and our community, while employing mindfulness and deep reflection to identify and empower who we are as intersectional individuals. I revel in the joyfully messy journeys of the human spirit, embracing all of who we have been, are, and will grow to become when we have the tools to reclaim our own story.
In my personal time, I enjoy creating and discovering art in any form, playing with my kiddos, and snuggling the sweetest pit-bull of all time. My future goal is to help build a community where people are celebrated and honored for simply being who they are as individuals.
